December 2017 ended with exhaustion. Off the heels of my Israel travels, the final month of the year immediately began with lots of great bike rides, one friend moving back to LA and another friend plus my brother visiting for the holidays. This meant going out almost nightly for the majority of the month. No doubt, it was one of the most fun Christmas seasons ever but also a huge kick in the wallet and an even bigger kick to the part of me that needs to socially recharge. What follows are some photo highlights.

And that’s what January was all about. The big event of the month was being invited to my friend Kathren’s wedding reception. It was the first “adult” or “normal” wedding reception that I ever attended — with the previous events being a bit ironic and quirky. Think Wiccan priestess, board games and punk rock dancing. Kathren’s party called for me to get my first suit and since every man should have one good suit, I put down the dough for it. Being a forever t-shirt and jeans dude (or the flannel and jeans dude), this was a pretty unique experience which saw me going to the fancy part of town and getting fitted. The store even gave me coffee while I waited! I was excited to wear the new suit and I was excited to take Minako as my plus one. The reception involved lots of drinking on a rooftop hotel in Marina Del Rey — a very nice shindig indeed.

Other than that, January involved low-key hangouts that mainly involved friends from my weekly bike riding group, City Night Shift, and repeat viewings of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
