Sunday
It's travel day to Mexico City, let's do this.
The LAX bartender remembered me from my previous pre-flight drink over the summer. Whoa! Made my day.
Lost my ATM card within minutes of withdrawing a $100 worth of pesos at the CDMX airport. Forever a dork. My bank is rush mailing a new debit card to my stay. In the meantime, the withdrawn pesos and using my credit card should suffice.
Checked in late, found a late-night local taco restaurant open. They were nice about my attempts at Spanish. I think trying is better than nothing. Those were the best tacos of my life
Day 1 begins. Caught México City’s Muévete en Bici event, where they shut off their major gigantic streets to cars, leaving some truly beautiful street views only to cyclists, runners, and roller skaters. This is city is blowing me away by its energy and gorgeousness.
Checked out a huge park afterwards, and then CDMX’s National History Museum, which was essentially a castle on a hill. Being dehydrated and surrounded by couples here put me in a sour mood. But leaving, eating, and drinking fixed it,
Ended the day with tickets to see CMLL lucha libre pro-wrestling at México Arena. Wild crowd, great wrestlers, including several visiting AEW talent, and I sat next to awesome folks who invited me to chat and cheer with them. Love meeting people like this when traveling. I will see more lucha shows while I am here!
