Friday
First week living in Taipei done! New co-workers are nice. I've been mostly been doing onboarding/familiarizing stuff, so looking forward to getting deep into work this coming week. Eating has been glorious. My favorite meal this week might have been a Taiwanese vegetarian buffet. MVP lunch for sure. The only "bad" meal this week was going for pizza bwahaha. But even mid-ass pizza is still pizza. I'm sure I'll find a good place eventually. Pics of both meals below.
My manager from the job I just left also reached out for freelance work, which I had offered to do before I left. I'm glad they want to work with me still! I liked the work and I like making more money, but I let him know it will be a few weeks before I can do any moonlighting, as I got to do several settling-in things.
The big settling-in thing is that I need to start looking for an apartment. I am kind of antsy without a cycling/gym routine until I find that apartment. I saw folks cycling through the city and I'm like I really want a bike. I'll just have to start using the bike share until I can.
I started the 3-day weekend with exploring Dadaocheng and Ningxia night market, book reading at cafes, the Taipei Lantern Festival, and decompressing with beers and watching wrestling to close the night. I LOVED the Dadaocheng Wharf pier with all the bars and restaurants along the bicycle path—I may have biked past there while cycling out of Taipei during 2024's visit—took a mental note to hang out there when it wasn't rainy. I will either go out for social drinks with folks or a standup comedy night tomorrow.

Mid pizza, but pizza is never a lose
