Saturday
It's Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day, bringing along a four-day weekend. I got it started by checking out open mic standup comedy at a basement cafe a few blocks from my office. Being an open mic, it was a lot more casual than typical standup comedy, with people trying out new material. It was fun chatting with the comedians after and I'm looking forward to seeing them at next week's bigger show.
Friday, I went with two friends to the beach. The original plan was to go swimming and grab drinks at a cafe bar where one of my friends knows the owner. But with rainy weather, it turned into an entire day of beach beers. Loved it, man.
Sleeping in today, I woke up with a message from my brother that one of our favorite Youtube creators, Gaming Historian, has called it quits. If you haven't seen his stuff, the dude makes very high-quality and detailed documentaries on classic video games. I haven't touched video games in over 10 years but was absolutely excited whenever he dropped a new video.
I'm glad he made a goodbye video instead of mysteriously vanishing and I know I'll revisit his docs from time to time. I salute you, my guy, for a decade plus of quality work.
I'm currently relaxing with a jazz playlist on the mini-speaker and will spend the next half-hour responding to emails. I'm debating to go out later after getting some hang invites or have a rest day in, catching up on wrestling. I love it when I have to make a decision and both are good options.
