Saturday
Wow, what a week. There was a gigantic pile of to-dos from both regular work and freelance, which I knew would be a lot. I was ready to knock them all out, but suddenly coming down with a bug/virus/something threw a wrench in things.
Weirdly enough, despite feeling like garbage, I forced myself to the gym on Tuesday because I really feel happy when I go. At first, I thought I was going to drop weights from how messed up I felt, but I got into a groove after a few sets and exercises. By the end of the session, I was feeling great again. Makes me wonder if it was an adrenaline thing?
But, alas, I felt terrible again on Tuesday and beyond with headaches, sore throats, fatigue, and all the fun stuff. But my to-dos got done, just slower resulting in later nights.
In between that, I started imagining the worse thanks to some new symptoms, and I made the mistake of Googling those symptoms, which is always bad. Now it's worse with AI summaries, where one can dialogue with it and it ends up telling one to go the emergency room ASAP for every small thing.
As I've been adopting stoicism these past 2 years, I eventually changed course listening to long YouTube videos of stoicism quotes as I worked. These three quotes helped reset my monkey mind:
"Let the mind be unaffected by the body’s discomfort. As long as it retains this peace, it has the power to preserve a state of well-being."
"Pain is slight if opinion has added nothing to it. We magnify sickness by fearing it."
"Don't seek for things to happen the way you want them to; rather, wish that what happens happens the way it happens: then you will be happy."
I felt on the come up on Friday and it's Saturday now and I'm starting to feel better, especially after long, 11-hour sleep.
