Rye Music Festival

Most of my 20s involved spending my free nights being somewhere like The Smell for a wild time of mosh pits and loud sounds. I love being around bands, whether I’m already a fan or it’s my first time seen them.

Beyond the hundreds of gigs that I’ve attended, I’ve only been to two music festivals in my life: the first being Fuji Rock 2017 in Japan and more recently, Rye Festival in Beijing in Changyang Music Park.

Unlike Fuji Rock, this one was just a one-day outing for me. I saw several exciting acts, but what really hit it for me was seeing Car Sick Cars and Hedgehog again, two bands I hadn’t seen since probably 2013 when I lived in Hong Kong.

I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d ever have a chance to see them again after the first time I left Asia as a home. I’m grateful that it wasn’t. Gimmie more!

The arrival.

The entrance gate. The crowd rush got pretty wild.

Lots of people chillin’ in the hills on a windy day.

I lost my mind at this point.

I REALLY lost it here.
